Hawkins Community Pool | OPEN

Character Name: Everybody!
Open To: Everybody: Canon, Aus, What if...just come and have some fun.
Summary: The end of summer is close, gotta make good use of Hawkins Community Pool. Prompts below!
Content Warnings: People in questionable 80s swimsuits. Oh, and croptops.

➼ A. The pool

There's laughing, screaming, and rad music in the air.

Have a picnic, swim, run around, gossip, play with friends, ask your crush to help you put on sunscreen, ogle attractive people, play a prank on others...generally have a good time.

Make sure to grab the best pool toy or the most tubular floatie. Be careful not to get hit in the head by a beach ball, lest you fall into the pool when all you wanted was some sunbathing. Stay away from the deep end if you're not that good at swimming. Or maybe risk going there so the cute lifeguards have to give you CPR.

➼ B. Drinks & Food

Time to get hydrated after being under the sun for so long. Grab a drink, some ice cream, throw an empty cup full of ice to your unsuspecting best friends when they're distracted...

A really wide selection of food and drinks is available. Some candy and fries come with extra little gifs.

It's a great opportunity to take a break from the loudest parts of the pool filled with screaming children. Use it and an opportunity to chat to that person who caught your eye, invite them to share some fries and milkshake with you, impress them with your hair braiding skills..the sky is the limit.

➼ C. Showers

They are built so they can fit as many people through them as quickly as possible without taking up to much floor space, so the showers are not sex-separated. There are some individual stalls with curtains if you are shy or just fond of privacy, as well as available free shampoo and body wash for everyone.

Don't peek...or do, but face the consequences. Maybe you will get lucky or maybe you might end slapped. If you cause a lot of trouble, however, someone from the staff will ask you to leave the facilities.

➼ D. Wildcard

Want anything else? feel free to write your own scenario.

[ It's no fun going to the pool when all your friends just want to make out with their girlfriends.

So hi, Steve. Someone's joining you on the lounge chairs. ]

Hey.

[personal profile] partyfirst 2019-07-11 10:02 am (UTC)(link)
No. [ But wow, doesn't he sound glum not to have a sunburn.

To be honest, he doesn't think Steve would understand his problems because, you know. He's Steve Harrington.

And yet, after a pause: ]
I just thought if we all came to the pool together we could have some fun. Together.

[personal profile] partyfirst 2019-07-11 10:26 am (UTC)(link)
What if I don't want to understand what all the fuss is about?

[ He turns away from the pool, crossing his arms and drawing his legs up to sit cross-legged on the lounge chair. ]

They never want to just hang out together like we used to.

Sure. I understand. [ He drops his head into his hands. ]

I understand they're in a lame emotional place.

[ Will pulls his head away, resisting the urge to laugh. He's sulking, don't try to cheer him up. ]

What? No way! I don't want monster hair like yours!!

Need a little help there?

[ Amy stands at the edge of the pool. Her hot pink one-piece shows that she’s gone for a dip in the pool already, but her sunscreen is still intact. Given her tendency to tan instead of burn, she’s usually okay in that area, anyway. However, she has noticed that Steve isn’t quite as melanin blessed as she is.

She takes a seat on a lounge chair next to him and holds out her hand expectantly. She’s completely willing to dole out free no-strings sunscreen massages to her friends if it means sparing them the pain of a bright red sunburn. This might not be Las Vegas, but the sun can still be cruel in Hawkins. ]

C’mon. I’ll put some on your back.

[ Her head tips back with a laugh as he checks her out. Steve knows how to get her laughing. She grins and takes the sunscreen from him, popping open the lid and squeezing a hefty amount into her palm. She rubs her hands together to warm it up a little bit then adjusts the spot she’s sitting in so she can reach Steve’s back. ]

Alright, prepare yourself, Harrington, it’s a little cold.

[ She starts to rub the lotion on his shoulders, first, working down his back. ]

I used to have a pool in Las Vegas. We got to use it almost all year round. I missed it, so… I came here. Little more crowded than what I’m used to, but still fun.

[ Amy laughs at his reaction to the sunscreen, never stopping applying it. Once his back is good and covered, she gives him a pat on his shoulder. ]

It’s fun in certain ways. I think you either need to be twenty-one or have a really decent fake ID to enjoy it the right way. Anyway, I like it better here.

[ No, she’s not lying. Las Vegas may be all flash and glamour, but when you associate it with all kinds of bad memories it loses its sparkle. Amy still smiles, though. ]

And that is true. I’d rather it be crowded than lonely.

[ Her eyebrows raise at him. ]

What about you? I feel like I’m talking about myself too much.

[ She hands him back the bottle of sunscreen with a smile. The back is the only really tricky part on a person’s body. He should be okay from here. She bites her lip. ]

Well, y’know, back there we can sneak out to the desert or hang out when somebody’s parents are away, but we can’t enjoy the casinos and, I mean…

[ Amy shrugs her shoulders with a goofy look on her face. ]

I used to think Vegas wasn’t Vegas unless you’re having the best time possible. That place is just covered in bad memories, now.

[ She sighs heavily. When she says she’s glad she’s in Hawkins, she really means it. Amy is also more than willing to shift the topic. She bites her lip gently and tilts her head slightly. ]

Strange how?

P O O L .

[ it seems a little juvenile to be frequenting a place like this at her age, doesn't it? maybe emma's just a little too used to the privilege of having rich friends with their own private pools. being above the "age range" certainly wasn't stopping parents from spending time with their children -- or cougars from eyeing the tastiest bit of exposed flesh from their lounge chairs. she's getting out of the pool, climbing up the stairs with chlorine water dripping down every pore and stitch of her swimsuit; a simple, tropical one piece. it was a bit conservative, if cute. she preferred two pieces herself but there's some things that are best kept hidden.

(hate hate hate the idea of the staring, pointing, whispering)

her feet patter wet and succinct as she wrings out the straw mop of her sodden hair, gaze idly soaring past the bobbing bodies in the pool... and that turns into a frenzied, uneven wobble the moment a child slams their weight across her side as they run past her, another giving chase, and emma's hands, considerate enough to not dig her nails in, scramble for purchase onto the nearest arm and back beside her as she stares at the sight in incredulity. ]

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry, they just-- Aren't people not supposed to run?

F O O D   &   D R I N K .

[ listen, it's a classic to grab a cone when it's summer. especially if you're at a pool where there's a bunch of screaming children around. yeah, she's just gonna enjoy her strawberry cornetto, in the shade, and away from aforementioned screaming children. maybe even get a bronzey little tan while she's at it, since there's a few spots open at the chairs.

if emma can find an extra few cents, anyway, because she's a little short and the bottom of her purse isn't that deep. ]

Oh, crap... Um, just give me a second, the change just likes to hide in here.

[ lucky for her, there isn't really a line behind her, but she would reeeeeeeeally like that cornetto. help a girl out? ]

Basking in The Rays

Amy is perfectly at home poolside. She hasn’t even gotten her neon pink one-piece wet yet, but she’s gotten quite comfy on the lounge chair she’s claimed for herself. Aviator sunglasses shielding her baby blues from the cruel sun, she leans back and lets the sun do its work on her tan skin. Sunburn is rarely an issue for her, but, just in case, she’s layered on just enough sunscreen.

You might find her like that or you might find her sometime after, as she pulls out a bottle of bright red nail lacquer and begins to paint her toenails. Either way, Amy is relaxing poolside and nothing can ruin her day.

Dunkin’ Donuts

Not ready to go for a full dip just yet, Amy makes her way into the pool by way of inner tube. It looks like a giant donut with frosting detail painted onto the rubber. She looks kind of cute, floating on the giant donut, still sporting her sunglasses.

Then, it happens.

Someone swimming underwater decides to surface, and they do it rather suddenly, their head running right into the donut floatie. It doesn’t take much to upset the inner tube and Amy slides right off. She gives a surprised shout and slips into the water. Paddling water, she shakes her head vigorously, trying to get the water out of her nose and see who she collided with.

Good, Clean Fun

Being a fairly particular girl, Amy brings her own shampoo to the pool with her. She totes the bottle of Salon Selectives with her as she looks for an open stall. The pool has closed for the day and she just wants to get home without the strong scent of chlorine in her hair.

She approaches one stall and doesn’t hear water turned on, so she quickly tears the curtain back and… Definitely someone there. A very naked someone. She reels around, turning away as quickly as possible, cheeks burning red. Still, she can’t help but chuckle awkwardly.

“Oh, my god. I’m so sorry.”
